As another school year goes by, we congratulate our two seniors, Amber Siegel and Alexis V. Although their time at the Franklin Park Ice Area has come to close, we would like to showcase our talented skaters that have made a lasting impact on their fellow skaters and coaches.
Amber Siegal
Amber began skating at the Ridgeland Ice Arena when she was just four years old. At the age of seven, she moved to the Franklin Park Ice Arena where her passion for skating grew. Since then, she has spent the last 11 years skating in Franklin Park. Her coach, Anne, has been there every step of the way to encourage and support Amber throughout her journey. Not only has Amber been on the ice, but her family has as well. They are the first and only ones to perform a family group number at the Ice Arena for the last several years.
Amber graduated from Oak Park River Forest High School with multiple awards for her art. She will be attending Northern Illinois University with an academic merit scholarship in the Fall to study art and psychology.
Alexis V.
Alexis has been skating for 11 years and it began when she walked by Riis Park on Fullerton in Chicago where she spotted an outside skating rink. She was eager to learn and after a few lessons said she wanted to pursue skating as her after school activity. Alexis and her family decided that the Franklin Park Ice Arena would be the best fit for her. Her most memorable moment skating at FPIA was her last Spring Show when her father surprised her on the ice and gave her the biggest hug.
Alexis graduated from Resurrection College Prep High School with high honors for four consecutive years. She was one of five graduates who received the highest honors awards, in spite of the hectic schedule with skating competitions and show practices. She will be attending the University of Minnesota in the Fall to study Psychology.
