The Park District of Franklin Park is excited to welcome Nigel Burnett as our new Athletics & Facility Manager! Nigel graduated from Hannibal-Lagrange University with his degree in Business Administration. He grew up on Chicago’s south side where he played a variety of sports throughout middle school, high school and college.
Nigel started working with athletic programs and park districts right after high school. He volunteered at his high school in the athletic department and at Hazel Crest Park District. In college, Nigel wrestled on a full scholarship and was team captain his last two years. He also sung in the choir and was the lead cook/chef on campus in the café. This is where he gained experience in becoming a leader and manager.
Outside of work, Nigel loves working on cars, cooking, watching sports, and competing professionally for Team USA wrestling. Prior to joining the Park District of Franklin Park, he was working at Kenwood Academy High School. He served as a Student Accountability Counselor and the Head Wrestling Coach, along with being head of security.
Nigel is looking forward to working with the Franklin Park community for years to come. His goals are to grow the athletics programs to make them top tier. He wants to bring the facilities the recognition they deserve. Next time you’re at the Community Center stop by and see Nigel!
