We are excited to announce a new partnership between the Franklin Park Panthers Girls Hockey Program and the Robert Morris University (RMU) Women’s Hockey club for the upcoming 2017-2018 hockey season.
Brit Volini, ice arena assistant manager, and Jennifer Wilson,Robert Morris Womens Hockey coach, met this past spring to discuss working together to create mentorship opportunities for the collegiate athletes as well as exposing the youth players to the world of college sports. The RMU women will attend practices, power skates, and games for the Panthers. Some special events are also on the agenda; combing both programs for a holiday skate with potluck to further build a relationship between both clubs.
Brit and Jennifer know how important it is to develop female players in the Chicagoland area. If the younger girls continue to play through high school, it’s important they know there is a thriving club in their back yard. Former Panther, Cassidy Schukat plays for Robert Morris and hope this relationship will expose more young girls to hockey and keep them in the area for college.
We are excited to see where this partnership can bring us and hope to foster it as much as possible in the coming season!
