July has been designated as Park and Recreation Month, a time to celebrate the essential role of parks and recreation in building strong, vibrant, and resilient communities. Throughout this month, we honor the dedication of park and recreation professionals, as well as the contributions of part-time staff and volunteers, who work diligently to maintain our local, state, and community parks.
This year’s theme, “Where You Belong,” emphasizes how park and recreation professionals across the country foster a sense of belonging in their communities. They achieve this through inclusive programs, essential services for people of all ages and abilities, and by providing safe, accessible spaces that encourage meaningful connections.
Let’s unite this Park and Recreation Month to celebrate and highlight why local parks and recreation truly embody the essence of belonging. Together, we can recognize these spaces as places “Where You Belong” and demonstrate their profound impact on community well-being.
